Then came Lumbridge. There is nothing more
While creating an account took a couple of minutes, you probably wondered what was a World was. After selecting any random number you were directed to the Java applet screen. Then the Runescape theme started to play. Those colourful flames intrigued you to try this brand new game known as Runescape that you had recently discovered and got you even more excited to try it out. After that, you log into your account and begin your thrilling Runescape journey blindly.
Tutorial Island was different from anything else you've ever seen. The tunes of the Newbie Melody remain in my mind for years. Replaying it brings me back to my younger Runescape acquaintances, when things weren't so difficult.
The Runescape experience is visually represented by Ian Taylor's MIDI music pieces. They include a variety of melodies, sweet notes and even sections. It's like you've been transported in time to the beginning of 2000 when things were simpler. It's likely to make you cry when you listen to it and it's fine to let out emotions. You were a Tutorial Island "noob" that there was nothing you could do about it.
Taking those first baby steps prior to advancing to the mainland where everything happened, basically set the stage for what was going to pretty much dominate your life for a couple of years. It took about half an hour to learn how a bronze bars were melted and how to make bread dough. It was not an easy task.
When you realized that others had done the same thing, it wasn't so disconcerting to cook your first Runescape dinner on a fire you built. Who would have thought you could use an arrow or bow with a bow and kill a giant polygon-created rat in just 5 seconds? Tutorial Island is a small but magnificent island was the spot that started a huge journey that would last for many decades. Whatever age or how far back the island will remain in our hearts.
Then came Lumbridge. There is nothing more to say. This is the prelude to an unforgettable experience in which you were unsure of what was happening or what to do. Lumbridge was a town that every single participant knew about and could go back to if they were lost. Lumbridge was intimidating for the new players, let's face it.
